Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus is a special double album that came out on June 26, 2007. It includes two parts: the soundtrack for the second season of the TV show Hannah Montana, and the very first studio album by Miley Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana. Both parts were later released separately on digital music platforms in 2021.

To help promote the album, Miley Cyrus went on her first big concert tour, called the Best of Both Worlds Tour, from 2007 to 2008. Many of the songs on the Meet Miley Cyrus album were produced by a group called Rock Mafia. Miley Cyrus also helped write 8 out of 10 songs on her Meet Miley Cyrus album.

This album was very popular! It went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 325,000 copies in its first week. It has since sold over three million copies in the US, earning a "triple-platinum" award. The album also did well in other countries, reaching the top 20 in many places across Europe and Oceania. It received multi-platinum awards in Canada and platinum awards in Australia and Sweden. It also earned gold awards in Mexico and the United Kingdom.

The song "Nobody's Perfect" was the first single released from the Hannah Montana 2 part of the album on May 15, 2007. It reached number 27 in the US. Another song, "Make Some Noise," was released on June 5, 2007. From the Meet Miley Cyrus album, "See You Again" was released on December 29, 2007. This song became Miley's first top-ten hit, reaching number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Start All Over" was released only in Australia on March 11, 2008.

Creating the Album: Background and Songs

Miley Cyrus played the main character, Hannah Montana, in the popular TV series.

While making the first season of Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus hoped there would be a soundtrack for the show and her own album one day. The TV show became a huge hit when it first aired on March 24, 2006. Its first episode had 5.4 million viewers, which was the highest rating for the Disney Channel at that time! Soon after, plans began for both a soundtrack and Miley's first album.

In the show, Miley Cyrus plays Miley Stewart, a teenager who secretly lives a double life as the pop star Hannah Montana. Miley explained that songs from the first season were mostly about keeping Hannah's secret safe. But for the second season, the songs were "more speaking out to the fans."

Music experts noticed that Miley's own songs on the album sounded "lower and throatier" and had a more "rock-oriented" feel. The songs on the album often shared positive messages for young girls. For example, Hannah Montana 2 songs like "Rock Star" and "Old Blue Jeans" talked about Hannah's double life. Songs like "Right Here," "You and Me Together," and "True Friend" focused on friendships. Other songs like "Nobody's Perfect" and "Life's What You Make It" encouraged a positive outlook on life.

The Meet Miley Cyrus album explored "more serious objects," including teen romances. The last song, "I Miss You," was a special tribute to Miley's late grandfather. Later, a special edition of Hannah Montana 2 was released in Japan. It included a remix of "We Got the Party" with the Jonas Brothers and an acoustic version of "One in a Million." Songs from Hannah Montana 2

"Nobody's Perfect" was first released on March 20, 2007. It later became the main single from Hannah Montana 2 and was released on May 15. This song reached number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Even without official singles, other songs from the soundtrack also became popular. "Life's What You Make It" was the highest-charting song from this part of the album, reaching number 25. "Rock Star," "Make Some Noise," and "True Friend" also appeared on the Billboard Hot 100.

Songs from Meet Miley Cyrus

"See You Again" was the first single from Meet Miley Cyrus, released on December 29, 2007. It was a big hit, reaching number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Miley's first song to make it into the top ten in the United States! A "Rock Mafia Remix" of this song was later included on Miley's next album, Breakout (2008). "Start All Over" was released as the second single only in Australia on March 11, 2008. It reached number 68 in the United States. Its music video came out on December 14, 2007.

The Best of Both Worlds Tour

Miley Cyrus went on a big concert tour called the Best of Both Worlds Tour in 2007 and 2008. This tour helped promote Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The concerts also included songs from the first Hannah Montana soundtrack, like "Just Like You" and "The Best of Both Worlds." The tour was a huge success, earning $54 million! A movie about the tour, Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, made $70 million. The movie was also released as a special CD/DVD set in March 2008.

Album Success and Charts

Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus was very successful. In the United States, it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 326,000 copies in its first week. This was even more than the first Hannah Montana soundtrack had sold in its first week! The album later received a "triple-platinum" award in the US for selling over three million copies.

The album also reached number three on the Canadian Albums Chart and earned a "platinum" award there. In March 2008, Miley Cyrus made history by having two albums in the top ten of the Billboard 200 at the same time! This album reached number six, while her concert album reached number ten. This was the first time an artist had done this since Ray Charles in 2004. The album also charted in Mexico, where it received a "gold" award.

In Europe, the album did very well, reaching number eight in Norway. It also made it into the top twenty in Austria, Denmark, Portugal, and Sweden. The album was certified "gold" in the United Kingdom. In Australia, it reached number 20 and earned a "platinum" award. It also reached number six in New Zealand.
