Haris Seferovic is a professional footballer from Switzerland. He was born on February 22, 1992, and plays as a striker, which means he is a forward player who tries to score goals.

Haris started his professional career at Grasshopper in Switzerland in 2009. A year later, he moved to the Italian club Fiorentina. He spent some time playing for other teams on loan, like Novara in Italy, where he scored many goals. In 2013, he moved to Real Sociedad in Spain.

Later, he played for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany for three seasons. After that, he joined Benfica in Portugal in 2017. He played over 180 games for Benfica and scored more than 70 goals. He even won an award called the Bola de Prata for being the top scorer in the league when his team won the Primeira Liga in the 2018–19 season.

Haris Seferovic has also played for the Swiss national team since 2013. He has played in three FIFA World Cup tournaments (2014, 2018, and 2022) and two UEFA European Championship tournaments (2016 and 2020). He has played over 90 games for his country.

Starting Out in Switzerland

Haris Seferovic began playing football in 1999 with the youth team of FC Sursee. After five years, he joined Luzern in 2004. He spent three years in their youth teams.

In 2007, he was noticed by Grasshopper, another Swiss club. He made his first professional appearance in the Swiss Super League on April 26, 2009. In January 2010, he was recognized as the Youth Player of the Year in his home area.

Playing in Italy

On January 29, 2010, Haris signed with the Italian club Fiorentina. He joined their youth team first. Later, he was loaned to Neuchâtel Xamax in Switzerland in 2011.

In January 2012, he was loaned to Lecce, another Italian club. He then had a very successful loan period with Novara in the Serie B league during the 2012–13 season. He scored 10 goals in 18 games, including three goals in one match against Livorno.

Moving to Spain

On July 11, 2013, Haris Seferovic moved to Spain to play for Real Sociedad in La Liga. He signed a four-year contract. He scored a goal in his very first game for the club on August 16, 2013, helping his team win 2–0.

A few days later, he scored another great goal in a Champions League qualification game against Lyon. He played in 24 league games in his first season. He also scored in a Copa del Rey match against Algeciras.

Time in Germany

On August 1, 2014, Haris joined Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, signing a three-year contract. The club was excited to have a young player with good experience. He scored in his first game for Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal cup.

A week later, he scored the only goal in his first Bundesliga game, helping Frankfurt win against SC Freiburg. In the 2015–16 season, he scored three goals in 29 games. Frankfurt had to play a special match to stay in the top league, and Haris scored the winning goal to keep them there.

In February 2017, Haris was suspended for three matches after an incident during a game. He also played in the team's DFB-Pokal cup run, where they finished as runners-up. He scored the winning goal in a round of 16 match against Hannover 96.

Success in Portugal

On June 2, 2017, Haris Seferovic signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese champions Benfica. He made his debut on August 5, scoring a goal in a 3–1 win in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira cup.

In his first season with Benfica, he scored six goals. In the 2018–19 season, he became the team's top scorer. He scored important winning goals against big teams like Porto and Sporting CP. He also scored two goals in a huge 10–0 win against Nacional.

He scored his 17th goal of that season in a UEFA Europa League game against Galatasaray. His 23 goals in the league earned him the Bola de Prata award, making him the top goalscorer in the Portuguese league.

After this amazing season, Haris signed a new contract with Benfica until 2024. In the 2020–21 season, he scored 22 goals, showing his strong return to form. However, in the 2021–22 season, he faced many muscle injuries, which limited his playing time.

Loan to Galatasaray

On June 19, 2022, Haris joined Galatasaray in Turkey on a loan for one season. He played his first game for them on August 7. He scored his first goal for Galatasaray in a Turkish Cup match on October 19.

Loan to Celta Vigo

On January 31, 2023, Haris Seferovic was loaned to La Liga team Celta Vigo in Spain for the rest of the 2022–23 season.

Playing in the UAE

On July 5, 2023, Haris signed with Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates. He had a very successful first season with Al Wasl, helping them win the UAE Pro League and the UAE President's Cup in the 2023–24 season. He scored 11 goals in 24 league games.

As of July 2025, Haris Seferovic is playing for Al-Nasr in Dubai.

Haris Seferovic played for the Swiss under-17 national team. He helped them win the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. He was the top scorer in that tournament, scoring five goals, including the winning goal in the final against Nigeria.

In 2013, he was called up to play for the senior Swiss national team. He made his debut on February 6, 2013, in a friendly game against Greece. In his third game for Switzerland, on June 8, 2013, he scored the only goal in a World Cup qualifier against Cyprus.

On June 2, 2014, Haris was chosen for Switzerland's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In their first match against Ecuador, he came on as a substitute and scored the winning goal in the final minutes of the game.

He scored three goals during the qualification for UEFA Euro 2016, including two goals in a 4–0 win against San Marino. He was part of the Swiss squad for the Euro 2016 tournament in France.

Haris scored four more goals as Switzerland qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was again selected for the squad to play in the World Cup in Russia.

On November 18, 2018, Haris scored three goals (a hat-trick) as Switzerland came back from being 0–2 down to beat Belgium 5–2 in the UEFA Nations League. This win helped his team finish first in their group. In May 2019, he played in the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals, where Switzerland finished in fourth place.

On May 31, 2021, Haris was called up for UEFA Euro 2020. On June 28, 2021, he scored two goals in the Round of 16 game against France. The game ended in a 3–3 draw, and Switzerland won on penalties. On June 12, 2022, he scored the only goal in just 57 seconds as Switzerland beat Portugal in the Nations League. He also played in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where Switzerland was eliminated by Portugal.

Haris Seferovic's family comes from Sanski Most, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His parents moved to Switzerland in the late 1980s. Haris is of Bosniak background.
