A prime minister is a very important leader in a country's government. They usually lead the group of ministers (like a cabinet) who help run the country. This article lists all the people who have been Prime Minister of Mali since it became an independent country in 1960.
Mali gained its independence from France in 1960. Since then, 17 different people have served as Prime Minister. Some have even served more than once!
The current Interim Prime Minister of Mali is Abdoulaye Maïga. He took office on November 21, 2024. He was chosen by a special group that has been leading the country since a change in government in 2021.
In 2023, Mali got a new set of rules for its government, called a constitution. This new constitution changed how much power the prime minister has. Now, the prime minister and the government report directly to the president. The president is now in charge of guiding the government's main plans and actions.
