In 1644, the land that included Hefenhofen was divided among different owners. From that time until 1798, many different people owned parts of the village.
After the Protestant Reformation, a big change in Christianity, Hefenhofen became part of the Sommeri church area. Later, in 1870, the different parts of Hefenhofen (the political and geographical areas) officially joined together to form one municipality.
