Kesswil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Arbon area of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. It sits right by Lake Constance.
This village is famous for being the birthplace of Carl Jung, a very important thinker. He helped create a type of psychology called analytical psychology. Carl Jung was born here on July 26, 1875.

Kesswil's History: A Look Back
Kesswil was first mentioned in old writings in the year 817. Back then, it was called Chezzinwillare.
Early Times and Monasteries
In the 800s, a powerful church group called the Abbey of St. Gall owned land in Kesswil. Later, in the 1200s, another abbey called Münsterlingen Abbey gained control over the town. Kesswil remained under the rule of the Abbot of St. Gall until 1798.
In 1429, the Münsterlingen monastery allowed a small church, called a chapel, to be built. Later, in 1529, the local church area, known as a parish, changed to the Protestant Reformation faith. This parish also included the nearby villages of Dozwil and, after 1588, Uttwil.
Growing Economy and Changes
In the 1800s, most people in Kesswil worked in farming, growing grapes for wine (viticulture), and fishing. There were also some small businesses and weaving. Over time, farmers started focusing more on raising cattle and dairy cows, which led to more fruit orchards.
When the Seetalbahn railway opened in 1870, it didn't bring much new industry to Kesswil. By 1900, some small embroidery businesses started up. In the early 2000s, a walnut factory called Matzingen AG became a major employer. Many other jobs in Kesswil are still in farming, especially growing fruits and berries, and at plant nurseries.
