Het Hogeland is a municipality, which is like a local government area, located in the northern part of the Groningen province in the northeast of the Netherlands. It's a special place with a rich history and beautiful landscapes.

History of Het Hogeland
Het Hogeland is a fairly new municipality. It was created on January 1, 2019. This happened when four smaller municipalities – Bedum, De Marne, Eemsmond, and Winsum – joined together. This merger helped bring different communities in the area under one local government.
Geography and Towns
Het Hogeland is located in the north of the Groningen province. It is in the northeast part of the Netherlands. The municipality covers a large area of land and water.

Transportation
Getting around Het Hogeland is easy thanks to its railway system. The Sauwerd–Roodeschool railway connects several towns within the municipality. These include Warffum, Usquert, Uithuizen, Uithuizermeeden, and Roodeschool. This railway line links these towns to Groningen railway station and the rest of the Dutch railway network.

Public Service and Thinkers
- Rodolphus Agricola (around 1443 in Baflo – 1485): He was a very smart person who studied many things. He was known as a humanist, a Hebrew scholar, and even built a church organ.
- Wigbolt, Baron Ripperda (around 1535 in Winsum – 1573): He was a city governor of Haarlem. He defended the city during a siege in the Eighty Years' War.
- Sicco Mansholt (1908 in Ulrum – 1995): A Dutch politician and diplomat. He played a big role in European politics.
- Aldert van der Ziel (1910 in Zandeweer – 1991): A Dutch physicist who studied how electronic noise works.
- Klaas Knot (born 1967 in Bedum): He is a Dutch economist. He is currently the president of the Dutch central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank.
