De Marne was a special area in the northeast of the Netherlands. It used to be its own municipality, which is like a local government area.
On January 1, 2019, De Marne joined with three other municipalities. These were Bedum, Eemsmond, and Winsum. Together, they formed a new, bigger municipality called Het Hogeland.
