Highgate Center is found in the northwestern part of Franklin County. It sits in the south-central area of the town of Highgate. The village is located on the north side of the Missisquoi River. This river flows west and eventually joins Lake Champlain. The river also creates a beautiful spot called Highgate Falls near the village.
Getting Around Highgate Center
Two main roads help people travel through Highgate Center. Vermont Route 78, also called Franklin Street, goes right through the middle of the village. If you head southeast on Route 78, you'll travel about 6 miles to Vermont Route 105 in Sheldon Junction. Going southwest for about 4 miles will take you to Swanton.
Vermont Route 207 also passes through Highgate Center. This route can take you south about 9 miles to the city of St. Albans. If you go northeast on Route 207 for about 6 miles, you will reach the Canadian border at Morses Line.
