Hugh Archibald William Montgomerie, born on July 24, 1966, is an important person in Scotland. He holds the titles of the 19th Earl of Eglinton and the 7th Earl of Winton. He is also a landowner and a businessman. In Scotland, he serves as a Sheriff for the area of Renfrewshire. He is also the leader, or "chief," of Clan Montgomery, a historic Scottish family. Before 2018, he was known by the special title of Lord Montgomerie.

Early Life and Education
Hugh Montgomerie was born in Hammersmith, England. He is the oldest of four sons. His parents were Archibald Montgomerie, 18th Earl of Eglinton and Marion Carolina Dunn-Yarker. He went to school at Eton College, a famous school in England.
Military Service and Career
After school, Hugh Montgomerie joined the Royal Navy. He served as an officer from 1988 to 1993. He was a Sub-Lieutenant in the navy. After leaving the navy, he worked as a manager for shipping operations. In 1994, he joined the Intelligence Corps of the Territorial Army as a Lieutenant. He later moved to the Regular Army Reserve of Officers in 2000.
In the late 1990s, he went to the University of Edinburgh. He earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1999. An MBA is a special degree for people who want to learn about running businesses. From 2004 to 2020, he worked as an executive for Dell Technologies in Nashville, Tennessee.
Becoming an Earl
On June 14, 2018, Hugh Montgomerie became the Earl of Eglinton. He also became the Earl of Winton, Lord Montgomerie, and Baron Ardrossan. He received these titles after his father passed away. The family home was once Balhomie House in Perthshire, but it was sold in 2019.
Family History and Clan Chief
Besides being a Sheriff, Hugh Montgomerie is the chief of Clan Montgomery. This means he is the head of the Montgomery family in Scotland. The first person named Montgomerie in Scotland was Robert of Montgomerie. He was given land in Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, during the time of King David I (1124–1153). Robert's father came from Normandy, France, with William the Conqueror.
Since 2018, Eglinton has been a member of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs. This group helps to represent the leaders of Scottish clans. He also leads the Society of Scottish Armigers.
Personal Life
Hugh Montgomerie has been married twice. His first marriage was to Sara Alexandra Redpath in 1991. They divorced in 1998. On July 28, 2001, he married Carol Anne Robinson. They have three children together:
