Hunsonby is a small village and parish in Cumbria, England. It is located in the Eden District. The village is about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Penrith. It is also about 28 miles (45 km) southeast of the city of Carlisle.
A very old stone circle called Long Meg and Her Daughters is found within the Hunsonby parish. However, another nearby stone, Little Meg, is not part of Hunsonby. In 2011, a census showed that 388 people lived in the parish.
In the early 1870s, a writer named John Marius Wilson described Hunsonby. He noted it was a township near the River Eden. At that time, about 208 people lived there in 38 houses. There was also a Wesleyan chapel.

Discovering Hunsonby's Past
The area we know as Hunsonby today became a single parish in 1934. Before that, it was made up of smaller parishes. These included Hunsonby and Winskill, and also Little Salkeld. These smaller areas were first created in 1866. They were formed from a larger church parish called Addingham.

Hunsonby has one old Wesleyan Methodist chapel. This chapel first opened in 1862. However, it closed its doors in 2001.

The number of people living in Hunsonby has not changed a lot over time. Between 1881 and 1921, the population stayed mostly the same. It only changed a little bit.
After 1931, the population slowly started to grow. By 1951, there were 371 residents. In the next ten years, the number grew to 435 people. However, by 2001, the population went down again. The most recent information shows 388 people living in Hunsonby.
