María Isabel Preysler Arrastía (born February 18, 1951) is a famous Spanish and Filipino socialite and television host. A socialite is someone well-known in high society. She is also known as the mother of famous singers Enrique Iglesias and Julio Iglesias Jr.. Her other children are journalist Chábeli Iglesias, Tamara Falcó, 6th Marchioness of Griñón, and Ana Boyer Preysler.

Isabel Preysler's Early Life

Isabel Preysler was born in Manila, Philippines. She was the third of six children in a wealthy family. She went to a private Roman Catholic school. Her father, Carlos Preysler y Pérez de Tagle, was a director at Philippine Airlines. Her mother, María Beatriz Arrastía y Reinares, owned a real estate company. Isabel is also related to actress Neile Adams, who is her mother's half-sister.

Isabel Preysler's Career

When she was young, Isabel Preysler worked as a model. She took part in beauty pageants and charity events in Manila. She won titles in several of these events. At 16, she moved to Madrid, Spain. There, she lived with her aunt and uncle and studied accounting at Mary Ward College.

Starting as a Journalist

Isabel began working as a journalist in 1970. She wrote for ¡Hola!, a Spanish magazine about celebrities. Her very first interview was with Julio Iglesias, who later became her husband.

Hosting TV Shows

In 1984, Isabel started hosting a Spanish TV show called Hoy en Casa. It was a lifestyle program. Since then, she has hosted and appeared in many other TV shows.

Special Guest and Spokesmodel

Isabel Preysler has been a special guest at important events. In 2001, she was Prince Charles' guest for the opening of his Spanish Garden in England. She was invited again in 2005. In 2004, she welcomed David and Victoria Beckham to Spain. She hosted a party for them at her home in Madrid. She became good friends with Victoria Beckham.

Isabel is also a national spokesmodel for several big brands. These include Ferrero Rocher chocolates, Suárez jewelry, Manolo Blahnik shoes, Chrysler cars, and Porcelanosa tiles. In 2006, Hollywood actor George Clooney worked with her for a Porcelanosa advertising campaign.

Awards and Recognition

Readers of ¡Hola! magazine have voted Isabel Preysler as the most elegant and best-dressed woman in Spain many times. She won this title in 1991, 2002, 2006, and 2007.

In 2006, Isabel received the Women Together Award. This award honors women who help the United Nations with their charity work. She was the first woman of Filipino descent to win this award. In 2007, she and her daughters were invited by Prince Charles to visit his home in London, Clarence House.

Isabel Preysler's Family Life

In 1970, Isabel met Julio Iglesias, who was starting his career as a singer. They married on January 29, 1971. They had three children: María Isabel (born 1971), Julio José (born 1973), and Enrique Miguel (born 1975). They later divorced.

On March 23, 1980, Isabel married Carlos Falcó, 5th Marquess of Griñón. They had one daughter, Tamara Isabel Falcó (born 1981). They also later divorced.

Her third marriage was in 1987 to Miguel Boyer, who was a Spanish finance minister. They had one daughter, Ana Boyer Preysler (born 1989). Miguel Boyer passed away in 2014.

From 2015 to 2022, Isabel was in a relationship with Mario Vargas Llosa. He is a famous writer and journalist from Peru who won a Nobel Prize.

Isabel's father, Carlos Preysler, passed away in 1994. Her mother, Beatriz Arrastia, lived with Isabel in Madrid until she passed away in 2021 at 98 years old. Isabel's daughter Tamara became the 6th Marchioness of Griñón after her father passed away in 2020.
