James Timothy Hunt (born April 1, 1959) is an American-Canadian writer, journalist, and script supervisor. He is known for writing books for adults and also for children. For his children's books, he uses the pen name Tim Beiser.

About James Timothy Hunt
James Timothy Hunt was born in Los Angeles, California. He grew up there before going to college in Montana. In 1981, he earned a degree in economics and business from Rocky Mountain College.
In 2004, James became a Canadian citizen. Today, he lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He also spends time in Grignan, France. He lives with his husband, Morton Beiser, and their twin sons, Daniel and Rowan.
His Writing Career
James Timothy Hunt has written eight books. He has been nominated for some important awards in Canada. These include the Governor General's Awards (twice) and the Canadian National Magazine Awards (four times). He has also received grants from the Canada Council to help with his writing.
He was a "writer in residence" three times at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in New Mexico. This means he was invited to live and work there as a writer. In 1999, he earned a degree in journalism from Toronto's Ryerson University.
Writing for Magazines and Newspapers
James has written for many Canadian magazines and newspapers. Some of these include National Post Business, Toronto Life, Elm Street, Reader's Digest, and Saturday Night.
One of his articles in Saturday Night magazine was about a Nigerian environmentalist named Ken Saro-Wiwa. This article was later expanded into his book, The Politics of Bones, which was published in 2005.
Writing for Children
In 2007, James Timothy Hunt started writing books for children. He publishes these books with Tundra Books under the name Tim Beiser.
Film and Television Work
Since 2013, James has also worked in the film and television industry. He works as a script supervisor, which means he helps make sure everything in a movie or TV show stays consistent. He has also worked as a screenwriter and an actor. He has a master's degree in film studies from Staffordshire University.
