James Timothy Hunt, born on April 1, 1959, is an American-Canadian author and journalist. He also works as a script supervisor for movies and TV shows. He writes books for children using the pen name Tim Beiser.

About James Timothy Hunt
Early Life and Education
James Timothy Hunt was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to Rocky Mountain College in Montana. There, he earned a degree in Economics and Business Administration in 1981.
Life in Canada and France
In 2004, James Timothy Hunt became a Canadian citizen. Today, he lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He also spends time in Grignan, France. He lives with his husband, Morton Beiser, and their twin sons, Daniel and Rowan.
Writing Career
Books and Nominations
James Timothy Hunt has written nine books. He has been nominated for Canada's important Governor General's Awards twice. He was also nominated four times for the Canadian National Magazine Awards. He has received two grants from the Canada Council for his writing. He was a "writer in residence" three times at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in New Mexico. This means he stayed there to focus on his writing.
Journalism Work
In 1999, Hunt earned a degree in Journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto. He has written for many Canadian newspapers and magazines. These include National Post Business, Toronto Life, Elm Street, Reader's Digest, and Saturday Night. A long article he wrote in Saturday Night in June 2000 was about the Nigerian environmentalist Ken Saro-Wiwa. This article was later made into a book called The Politics of Bones in 2005.
Writing for Children
In 2007, James Timothy Hunt started writing children's books. He publishes these books under the name Tim Beiser. His first book of fiction for adults, The Museum of Lies, was published in February 2025.
Film and Television Work
Since 2013, James Timothy Hunt has worked in the film and television industry. He works as a script supervisor, screenwriter, and actor. He has a master's degree in film studies from Staffordshire University.
