Growing Up and Learning to Act
Jade Anouka grew up in Slade Green, London. She was the middle child of three. Her mother was a maths teacher from Trinidad, and her father was a mortgage advisor from Jamaica. Her brother and sister both chose careers in science.
Jade first started acting by joining a drama club on Saturday mornings in Dartford, Kent. When she was older, she received a special scholarship to join the National Youth Theatre. After that, she studied acting at the Guildford School of Acting. Right after she finished her studies, she was hired by the famous Royal Shakespeare Company. There, she even earned a special award for teaching about Shakespeare.
Jade's Acting Journey
Jade Anouka began her acting career on stage in 2007. One of her first big roles was in a play called The Penelopiad. In 2011, she was praised for her performance as Ophelia in Hamlet at Shakespeare's Globe theatre.
Early TV Roles
Jade also appeared in several TV shows. She had small roles in Doctor Who in 2013, Chewing Gum in 2015, and Stan Lee's Lucky Man. Later, she got a bigger role in the TV series Trauma in 2018. She also appeared in an episode of Death in Paradise in 2020.

Recent TV and Film Projects
In 2019, Jade appeared in the TV drama Cleaning Up and the Netflix series Turn Up Charlie. A big role came in August 2020 when she confirmed she would play Ruta Skadi in the fantasy drama His Dark Materials, which is shown on BBC and HBO.
More recently, in 2021, it was announced that Jade would star in a play in London in 2022. She also appeared in the TV mini-series The Drowning and Angela Black in 2021. In 2024, she took on a main role in the series Dune: Prophecy.
Jade as a Poet
Besides acting, Jade Anouka is also a poet! She performs her poetry on stage. In 2016, she published a book of her poems called Eggs on Toast.
