Jaime King (born April 23, 1979) is an American actress and model. She started her career as a model at a young age. Later, she became a well-known actress.
When she first began modeling and acting, she used the names Jamie King and James King. This was because another model named Jaime was already famous. James was a nickname her parents gave her when she was a child.
Jaime was discovered at age 14 in 1993. She appeared in major fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In 1998, she started acting. Her first big movie role was in Pearl Harbor (2001). She also starred in Bulletproof Monk (2003) and Sin City (2005). From 2011 to 2015, she was a main star in the TV series Hart of Dixie. She also voiced a character named Aurra Sing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Early Life
Jaime King was born on April 23, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska. Her mother, Nancy King, was a former beauty queen. She has three siblings: an older sister Sandi, a younger sister Barry, and a younger brother Robert. Jaime was named after a character from the 1970s TV show The Bionic Woman, named Jaime Sommers.
King attended a modeling school called Nancy Bounds' Studios. In 1995, she left high school to focus on her modeling career in New York City. She later continued her studies through a home-study program.
Modeling Career
Jaime King was discovered in November 1993 when she was 14 years old. A model agent named Michael Flutie saw her at a fashion show. He invited her to New York City to become a professional model.
She joined Company Management, an agency that already had a famous model named Jaime Rishar. To avoid confusion, King decided to use her childhood nickname, James. She used this name for her modeling career and at the start of her acting career.
King quickly became a successful fashion model. By age 15, she was featured in magazines like Vogue, Mademoiselle, and Seventeen. At 16, she appeared in Glamour and Harper's Bazaar. She also walked the runway for famous designers like Chanel and Christian Dior. In 1998, she co-hosted MTV's fashion show, House of Style.
In 2004, King became a spokesmodel for Revlon cosmetics. She appeared in ads with other famous stars like Halle Berry. In 2006, she became the new face of the clothing line Rocawear.
Acting Career
Early Roles (1998–2004)
Jaime King started her acting career in 1999. Her first movie was the comedy Happy Campers, where she played Pixel. She also appeared in the music video for Filter's song "Take a Picture".
In 2001, King had a small role in the movie Blow. She then appeared in the big World War II movie Pearl Harbor. She played a nurse named Betty Bayer. That same year, she was named "New Stylemaker" at the Young Hollywood Awards.
In 2003, King starred in the action film Bulletproof Monk. She played Jade, a character skilled in martial arts. This was her first main action role. In 2004, she appeared in the comedy White Chicks. She played Heather Vandergeld, one of two sisters.
Breakthrough Roles (2005–2008)
In 2005, King took on many different roles. She played twin sisters, Goldie and Wendy, in the movie Sin City. This film was based on a graphic novel. In Sin City, her characters were among the few to have color (red lips and blonde hair) in the mostly black and white film.
She also appeared in the family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and the drama Two for the Money. On television, she had a guest role on The O.C..
In 2006, King had a starring role in the thriller True True Lie. She also appeared in the horror film The Tripper. From 2006 to 2007, she had a recurring role on the comedy show The Class.
In 2007, King filmed They Wait, a horror-thriller movie. She played a mother trying to save her son from spirits during a Chinese tradition. In 2008, she appeared in The Spirit, a movie based on a 1940s comic strip.
Film and Television (2009–Present)
In 2009, King starred in the horror remake My Bloody Valentine 3D. She also appeared in the Star Wars-themed comedy Fanboys. This movie was directed by her future husband, Kyle Newman.
King played the lead role of Toni Jo Henry in the 2013 drama The Pardon. This film was based on a true story. She also appeared in the comedy A Fork in the Road and the horror film Mother's Day.
From 2009 to 2012, King did voice work for the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She voiced several characters, including Aurra Sing, Cassie Cryar, and a ticket droid.
From 2011 to 2015, King starred as Lemon Breeland in the CW show Hart of Dixie. In 2012, she appeared in Lana Del Rey's music video for "Summertime Sadness". Her husband, Kyle Newman, directed the video. She played Del Rey's lover in the video. King also returned to play Goldie and Wendy in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014).
More recently, King has starred in the TV series Black Summer (2019–2021). She also appeared in the Lifetime movie Hoax: The Kidnapping of Sherri Papini (2023).
Personal Life
In 2006, Jaime King met director Kyle Newman while working on the movie Fanboys. They started dating and moved in together within three months. Newman proposed in spring 2007, and they got married on November 23, 2007. Their wedding was a small ceremony in Los Angeles.
Jaime and Kyle have two sons together. The singer Taylor Swift is the godmother to their second son. In 2014, King shared her struggles with health issues that made it hard to have children. She had several miscarriages before her first successful pregnancy.
In May 2020, King filed for divorce from Newman. Their divorce was finalized in September 2023.
