Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada, also known as the Lord of Tejada, was born on 7 April 1963. He is best known as the former husband of Infanta Elena of Spain. Infanta Elena is the oldest daughter of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain.

About Jaime de Marichalar
Jaime de Marichalar comes from a noble family in Navarre, Spain. His parents were Amalio de Marichalar y Bruguera, who was the 8th Count of Ripalda, and María de la Concepción Sáenz de Tejada y Fernández de Boadilla. She was the Lady of the Manor of Tejada. Jaime is one of six children, having five brothers and one sister.
His Education and Career
Jaime went to Jesuit schools in Burgos and Madrid. He also studied in Dublin, Ireland. After high school, he focused on Economics, learning about Business Management and Marketing. Even though he didn't get a degree, he gained a lot of practical experience.
In 1986, he started working in financial companies in Paris. He lived there for many years, even after he got married. Later, in 1998, he became a senior advisor for a big financial company called Crédit Suisse First Boston in Madrid. He also advised a real estate company. For a time, he was the President of the Winterthur Foundation, which supported cultural activities.
Special Memberships
Since 1995, Jaime de Marichalar has been a member of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla. This is a very old and special noble group in Seville, Spain, that was created in 1670.
In 2001, Jaime had a health issue. After this, he mostly stepped away from public life.
His Marriage and Children
Jaime de Marichalar first met Infanta Elena of Spain in 1987. At the time, she was studying French literature in Paris, and he was working there.
Their Wedding and Family Life
They got married on 18 March 1995, in Seville Cathedral in Seville. Jaime and Elena have two children together. Their son, Felipe, was born on 17 July 1998. Their daughter, Victoria, was born on 9 September 2000. Both children were born in Madrid.
The family first lived in Paris. Then, from 1998, they moved to Madrid.
Separation and Divorce
On 13 November 2007, it was announced that Jaime and Elena had separated. In November 2009, the Spanish media reported that they would divorce. Their divorce papers were signed on 25 November 2009, and the divorce was finalized in December 2009.
The divorce was officially recorded on 21 January 2010. After the divorce, Jaime de Marichalar was no longer allowed to use his former wife's title of Duchess of Lugo. He also lost the special title of "His Excellency" and was no longer considered an official member of the Spanish royal family.
Titles and Honours
Jaime de Marichalar holds a very old family title called the Lord of Tejada. This is a hereditary title that dates back to the 9th century (the 800s). It's special because it can be passed down to both sons and daughters, not just the oldest child. He shares this title with other family members who are descendants of Sancho de Tejada.
