James Adam Belushi (born June 15, 1954) is a well-known American actor and comedian. He has starred in many TV shows and movies.
Some of his famous TV roles include Saturday Night Live (1983–1985) and According to Jim (2001–2009). He also appeared in films like K-9 (1989) and Red Heat (1988). Jim Belushi is the younger brother of the late comedy actor John Belushi. He is also the father of actor Robert Belushi.

Early Life and Education
Jim Belushi was born on June 15, 1954, in Wheaton, Illinois. His father, Adam Anastos Belushi, was from Albania. His mother, Agnes Demetri Belushi, was born in Ohio to Albanian immigrant parents.
Jim grew up in Wheaton, a suburb of Chicago. He had three siblings: an older brother named John Belushi, an older sister Marian, and a younger brother Billy. After finishing Wheaton Central High School in 1972, Jim went to college. He studied at the College of DuPage. Later, he graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1978. He earned a bachelor's degree in Speech and Theater Arts.
Acting Career Highlights
From 1977 to 1980, Jim Belushi worked with a theater group in Chicago called The Second City. His older brother, John, also worked there. Jim first appeared on TV in 1978 in Who's Watching the Kids. He also had a small part in the movie The Fury.
His first important movie role was in Thief (1981). After his brother John passed away, Jim joined Saturday Night Live from 1983 to 1985. On the show, he played different funny characters.
Rising to Stardom
Jim Belushi became more famous with his roles in movies like The Man with One Red Shoe (1985) and Salvador (1986). These roles helped him get lead parts in other films. He starred in many movies, including The Principal, K-9, and Curly Sue.
He also used his voice for many animated characters. You might have heard him in The Mighty Ducks, Hey Arnold!, and Hoodwinked!. His first voice-over was for a character on Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. This led to him playing Simon the Monster Hunter in the same series.
Television Success
In 2001, Jim Belushi appeared in an episode of the TV show ER. His performance was well-received. The next year, he got the main role in the ABC show According to Jim. He played the character of Jim Orenthal. The show was very popular and ran from 2001 to 2009.

In 2010, Jim Belushi was cast in a new CBS series called The Defenders. This show was about defense lawyers. It started on September 22, 2010. In some episodes, he worked with his Blues Brothers partner, Dan Aykroyd.
Music and Other Ventures
Jim Belushi is also a musician. In 2003, he and Dan Aykroyd released an album called Have Love, Will Travel. They also went on a tour together. Jim performs as Zee Blues in an updated version of The Blues Brothers.
He wrote his first book, Real Men Don't Apologize, in May 2006. Jim is also a big fan of Chicago sports teams. These include the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs.
Personal Life and Interests
Jim Belushi has been married three times. He has a son named Robert Belushi from his first marriage. He later married Jennifer Sloan in 1998, and they have a daughter and another son together.
Jim is proud of his Albanian background. He received honorary Albanian citizenship in 2008. He also got the "Honor of the Nation" Decoration from the President of Albania. Jim is an Eastern Orthodox Christian.
In 2011, Jim Belushi shared that he was dealing with gout. He became a spokesperson for an educational campaign about the condition. He has also been involved in fundraising for projects in Oregon. These include helping to rebuild the Butte Creek Mill and restore the Holly Theatre.
