Jamshoro is a city in Sindh, Pakistan. It is the main city of Jamshoro District. The city is located on the right side of the Indus River. It is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) northwest of Hyderabad. Jamshoro is also about 150 kilometers (93 miles) northeast of Karachi, the capital city of Sindh.
Jamshoro is often called "Education City." This is because four major universities in Sindh are located very close to the city.

A Look Back in Time
Jamshoro has an interesting past. Near the city is a famous place called Ranikot Fort.
This fort is sometimes called the "Great Wall of Sindh." It is thought to be the largest fort in the world! Its walls stretch for about 26 kilometers (16 miles). Since 1993, Ranikot Fort has been considered a possible World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Experts believe the fort was first built in the 1600s. Later, in 1812, parts of it were rebuilt. This work was done by Mir Karam Ali Khan Talpur and his brother Mir Murad Ali Talpur.

Where is Jamshoro?
Jamshoro is located on the right bank of the Indus River. It is in the southwest part of the Sindh Province. The land slopes from the northeast down to the southwest. As mentioned, it is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) from Hyderabad. It is also about 150 kilometers (93 miles) from Karachi.

The number of people living in Jamshoro District has grown a lot. From 1998 to 2011, the population more than doubled. Many people moved to Jamshoro from other parts of Sindh. This happened mostly between 1948 and 2014.
Because of this, the city has many different groups of Sindhi families. These families come from various districts like Dadu, Sukkur, and Larkana. The city is mainly home to Sindhi people. However, there are also many Pathans, Baloch people, and Seraikis. Smaller groups of Brahuis, Punjabis, and Urdu-speaking people also live here.
Most people in Jamshoro follow the Muslim faith. There is also a small group of people who follow Hinduism.
