Jarritos is a popular brand of soft drink from Mexico. It is owned by a company called Novamex, which is a large company that bottles drinks. Novamex is based in El Paso, Texas, in the United States. Jarritos was started in 1950 by a person named Don Francisco "El Güero" Hill.

Jarritos sodas are known for their delicious fruit flavors. They are made with real cane sugar and are not as fizzy as many other popular soft drinks. Many Jarritos flavors use natural fruit flavors. The word jarrito means "little jug" in Spanish. This name comes from an old Mexican tradition of keeping drinks in clay pottery jugs. Jarritos are made in Mexico and are sold all over North and South America. You can find them in different sizes, like small 370 mL (about 12.5 ounces) and 600 mL (about 20 ounces) glass or plastic bottles, and also in larger 1.5-liter bottles.

The Story of Jarritos

How Jarritos Began

When Jarritos first started, the very first flavor was actually coffee. But soon after, Don Francisco Hill decided to focus on fruit flavors instead. He created a special way to get extract from tamarind fruit. This led to the first tamarind-flavored soft drink in Mexico, called Jarritos Tamarindo.

Growing Popularity

After the tamarind flavor, Jarritos quickly added other popular fruit flavors. These included Mandarin, Lemon, and Fruit Punch. Because of these tasty new flavors, Jarritos became very popular across Mexico. By 1960, just ten years after it started, Jarritos was sold in 80 percent of Mexico's states.

Reaching New Countries

Jarritos started to be sold in the United States in 1988. It became very popular there too. By 2009, about 6,000 bottles of Jarritos were being sent across the border into the U.S. every minute! Today, Jarritos drinks are enjoyed in 42 different countries around the world.

Fun Collaborations

In May 2023, Jarritos even worked with the famous shoe company Nike. They created a special pair of Nike Dunk shoes that were inspired by Jarritos. This shows how well-known and loved the brand has become.

Jarritos Flavors
