Javier Cienfuegos Pinilla, born on July 15, 1990, is a famous Spanish athlete. He is known for the Hammer throw, a sport where athletes throw a heavy metal ball attached to a wire. Javier holds the junior world record in this exciting event. He trains with his club, CA Playas de Castellón, and his coach is Raul Jimeno.

In 2009, Javier set a new junior world record. He threw the 6 kg (about 13 lbs) hammer an amazing 82.96 meters in Madrid. This was his personal best throw for that weight. Later, in 2012, he broke the Spanish record for the senior hammer. This hammer weighs 7.26 kg (about 16 lbs). He threw it 76.21 meters. Javier kept improving his national record, reaching 78.70 meters in 2019. Just a few days later, he threw even further, reaching 79.38 meters.

Javier's Sports Journey

Javier Cienfuegos started competing internationally when he was 17. His first big event was the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics in the Czech Republic. He threw the 5 kg hammer 64.04 meters, finishing 8th. This was not his best, as he had thrown much further before.

The next year, in 2008, he competed in the 2008 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He finished 12th with a 65.93 meter throw using the 6 kg hammer. Again, this was less than his personal best at the time. It seemed that dealing with pressure during big competitions was a challenge for him.

Breaking Records and Winning Medals

In 2009, Javier's career really took off. He broke the junior world record for the hammer throw. He threw the 6 kg hammer 82.96 meters, which was a huge achievement! This record showed his incredible talent.

He also earned a bronze medal at the 2009 European Athletics Junior Championships. He finished third in a very tough competition.
