Jimbour East is a rural area in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, Australia. The small town of Jimbour is located within this area. In 2021, about 197 people lived in Jimbour East. It's about 236 kilometers (147 miles) west of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland.

Where is Jimbour East?
Jimbour East is mostly flat farmland. The land is about 350 to 450 meters (1,150 to 1,480 feet) above sea level. The town of Jimbour is in the southwestern part of this area.
Roads in Jimbour East
The main road in the area is the Dalby–Jandowae Road. This road runs along the western edge of Jimbour East. It also goes through a small part of the western side of the locality.
A Look at Jimbour's Past
The name "Jimbour" was first used in 1841. Henry Dennis named his large farm, called a "pastoral run," Jimbour. The name is thought to mean "sheep" or "good grass" in an old Aboriginal language. We don't know which specific language it came from.
Early Land Changes
In 1877, a big piece of land, about 40,000 acres (16,000 hectares), was taken from the Jimbour pastoral run. This land was then divided into smaller farms. These smaller farms were offered to people on April 24, 1877.
Schools in Jimbour's History
Jimbour Provisional School first opened its doors on September 9, 1873. It later became Jimbour State School on November 14, 1916. For a short time in 1922 and 1923, it was a "half-time school." This meant one teacher taught at two different schools. Jimbour shared a teacher first with Spring Flat State School and then with Springfield Provisional School.
The school went back to being a full-time school in 1923 but closed on December 31, 1925. It reopened as Jimbour Provisional School on September 29, 1931. On June 2, 1933, it became Jimbour State School again.
Another school, Spring Flat Provisional School, opened on March 20, 1893. It became Spring Flat State School on January 1, 1909. This school also sometimes operated as a half-time school. It shared a teacher with Maida Hill State School and Jimbour State School. Spring Flat State School closed in 1925, reopened in 1926, but then closed for good on April 1, 1929. The old school was located on the western side of Spring Flat Road.
Jimbour Post Office
The Jimbour Post Office has been open for a long time. It first started operating on September 1, 1882.
Jimbour Memorial Hall
The Jimbour Memorial Hall is an important building in the town. The current hall is actually the second one on that spot. The first hall was destroyed in a very strong storm in 1949.
