Joliet is a small town in Carbon County, Montana, United States. It is part of the larger Billings Metropolitan Area. In 2020, about 577 people lived there.

History of Joliet

Joliet became an important place in 1892. This was when the Rocky Fork & Cooke City Railway was built. The railway made Joliet a key spot for shipping goods.

The Joliet Post Office opened on June 10, 1893. Maud Smith was the very first postmaster. The town was named after Joliet, Illinois, a city in another state.

The Fire Hall in Joliet is a special building. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized for its historical importance.

Geography of Joliet

Joliet is located near some interesting natural features. A stream called Rock Creek flows just south of the town. To the west, you can see the beautiful Beartooth Mountains.
