Jonathan Dupree Baldwin (born August 10, 1989) is an American former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). The Kansas City Chiefs chose him in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. He also played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. Later, Baldwin played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Growing Up: Jon Baldwin's Early Life
Jon Baldwin went to Aliquippa High School in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He was known as one of the best receiver prospects in the country. He was also a talented athlete in many sports. He played basketball and competed in track and field.
Football Achievements in High School
In football, Jon was named a "SuperPrep All-American." This means he was one of the top players in the nation. He was also the Northeast Offensive Player of the Year. Local newspapers like the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review recognized him.
During his last two years, he caught 62 passes for 1,083 yards. He also scored 14 touchdowns. His team had a great record, winning 19 games and losing only 4. They even made it to the WPIAL Class AA playoffs.
Multi-Sport Star
Jon earned eight varsity letters in high school. He got four in basketball, three in football, and three in track. He was also a good student, with a 3.35 GPA. He was chosen to play in the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a game for top high school players.
Besides football, Jon was also offered several college scholarships for basketball. He was an All-state player in basketball. In his senior year, he averaged 21.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and two blocks per game.

Jon was also a strong track & field athlete. He competed in relays and sprints during his junior and senior years. In 2008, he finished second in the 200 meters race. He tied for first place in the 100 meters with his best time of 10.70 seconds. He also won a bronze medal in the 100 meters at the PIAA T&F State Championships. Jon was part of his school's PIAA and WPIAL champion 4 × 100 m relay teams. They set a school record with a time of 42.47 seconds.

Freshman and Sophomore Seasons
As a first-year player (a true freshman) in 2008, Jon started 3 out of 13 games. He caught 18 passes for 404 yards and scored three touchdowns.
In his second year (sophomore season) in 2009, he had an amazing year. He caught 54 passes for 1,080 yards and scored eight touchdowns. In one important game against Cincinnati, he had six catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Pittsburgh lost that game by just one point.
Junior Season and Preseason Honors
Before the 2010 season, football magazines recognized Jon as a top player. Lindy's magazine listed him as the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation. The Sporting News named him a third-team preseason All-American. In 2010, he played in 13 games. He caught 55 passes for 822 yards and scored five touchdowns.

Playing in the NFL
Time with the Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs picked Jon Baldwin as the 26th overall player in the 2011 NFL draft. Many expected him to be the second-best wide receiver on the team. On July 29, 2011, he signed a four-year contract with the Chiefs.
During the 2011 NFL preseason, Jon had an incident with a teammate that caused a wrist injury. This injury kept him from playing for the rest of the preseason. He caught his first NFL pass in Week 7 against the Raiders, gaining 14 yards. On October 31, 2011, Jon played his first game at Arrowhead Stadium. He helped the Chiefs win 23-20 against the San Diego Chargers. He caught 5 passes for 82 yards. He also scored his first NFL touchdown on a 39-yard pass from Matt Cassel. Jon finished that year with 254 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Playing for the San Francisco 49ers
On August 19, 2013, Jon Baldwin was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. In return, the Chiefs received wide receiver A. J. Jenkins. Jon was released by the 49ers on August 3, 2014.
Brief Time with the Detroit Lions
On August 4, 2014, the Detroit Lions claimed Jon Baldwin. However, he was released the very next day after he did not pass a physical examination.

Jon Baldwin has two sisters. His father, Jeffrey Baldwin, was also a football player. He played as a defensive lineman for Pitt from 1981 to 1984. Jon's cousin, Charles Fisher, played cornerback in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals.
