José Manuel Jurado Marín (born on June 29, 1986) is a Spanish former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend.
Jurado played for both big teams in Madrid: Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. He spent eight seasons playing in La Liga, Spain's top football league. During this time, he played 186 games and scored 22 goals. He also played for Mallorca and Espanyol in Spain.
In 2010, Jurado moved to Germany to play for Schalke 04. He played 71 matches there and won two major trophies, including the German Cup in 2011. He also played in Russia for Spartak Moscow and in England for Watford.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at Real Madrid
José Manuel Jurado was born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a town in Spain. He grew up playing football in Real Madrid's youth academy. He was one of the most important players for Real Madrid Castilla, which is Real Madrid's reserve team.
He played his first official game for Real Madrid's main team on October 29, 2005. This was an away game against Real Betis, which Real Madrid won 2-0. He played a total of six games for the main team, including one in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiacos F.C..
Moving to Atlético Madrid
On August 4, 2006, Jurado joined Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid's city rivals. The transfer cost about €3 million. Real Madrid had a special option to buy him back later, but they didn't use it.
In his first season, 2006–07, Jurado played 33 league games. He got more playing time because some teammates were injured. The next season, he didn't play as much. So, in July 2008, he was loaned to RCD Mallorca.
At Mallorca, Jurado played very well during the 2008–09 season. He was the second-highest goal scorer for the team. Because of his great performance, Atlético Madrid called him back to their team.
On November 10, 2009, Jurado signed a new contract with Atlético, keeping him until 2013. He celebrated by scoring the first goal in a huge 6-0 win against UD Marbella in the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup).
During the 2009–10 season, Jurado played the most games for Atlético Madrid, a total of 64 matches. He scored nine goals overall. The team reached the finals of both the Spanish Cup and the UEFA Europa League. He came on as a substitute in the Europa League final, which Atlético won.
At the start of the 2010–11 season, Jurado played in the UEFA Super Cup win against Inter Milan. On August 30, he scored the first goal in a 4-0 win against Sporting de Gijón. The very next day, he was transferred to FC Schalke 04 in Germany for €13 million. There, he joined his former Real Madrid teammate, Raúl.
Time at Schalke 04
On December 4, 2010, Jurado scored his first goal in the Bundesliga, Germany's top league. This helped Schalke win 2-0 against FC Bayern Munich. In the next game, he scored the first goal in a 2-1 victory against S.L. Benfica in the Champions League. This win helped Schalke finish first in their group.
Later, in the Champions League quarterfinals, Schalke beat Inter Milan. Jurado helped set up a goal for Raúl in that game. Schalke's European journey ended in the semi-finals against Manchester United.
In his only full season with Schalke, Jurado played 44 games and scored eight goals. One of these goals was in the final of the German Cup, where Schalke won 5-0 against MSV Duisburg.
Playing for Spartak Moscow
On September 4, 2012, Jurado was loaned to FC Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League. This loan was for the whole season. Just two months later, his move to Spartak was made permanent, starting the next summer.
Jurado had a great 2013–14 season, scoring eight goals in 29 games. He scored two goals in the "Oldest Russian derby" against FC Dynamo Moscow, helping Spartak win 4-1. In the last game of that season, he helped Spartak come back from being 0-2 down to win 3-2.
Watford and Espanyol
On July 22, 2015, Jurado joined Premier League team Watford in England. He signed a three-year contract and reunited with his former Atlético manager, Quique Sánchez Flores. He played his first game on August 8, 2015, in a 2-2 draw against Everton. He played 30 games for Watford that season but did not score any goals. Watford reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup that year.
On July 5, 2016, Jurado returned to Spain after six years. He signed with RCD Espanyol, again playing under manager Quique Sánchez Flores.
Later Career
On June 21, 2018, Jurado moved to Al Ahli Saudi FC in the Saudi Professional League. Then, on February 28, 2019, he joined China League One team Changchun Yatai FC.
Jurado came back to Spain on July 22, 2019. At 33 years old, he signed a three-year contract with Segunda División club Cádiz CF as a free agent.
International Career
Jurado played for different youth teams for Spain. He represented his country at the under-16, under-17, under-19, and under-21 levels. He also played in the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship and the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
