On August 4, 2006, Jurado made a big move to Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid's city rivals. He signed a four-year contract. Real Madrid had a special agreement that allowed them to buy him back later, but they never did.

In his first season with Atlético, he played 33 league games. This was partly because some of his teammates were injured. The next season, he didn't play as much, so he was loaned to RCD Mallorca in July 2008.

At Mallorca, Jurado played very well during the 2008–09 season. He was the second-highest goal scorer for the team. Because of his great performances, Atlético Madrid called him back to their team.

On November 10, 2009, Jurado signed a new contract with Atlético, keeping him at the club until 2013. He celebrated by scoring the first goal in a huge 6–0 win against UD Marbella in the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup).

During the 2009–10 season, Jurado played more official matches than any other player for Atlético, with a total of 64 games. He scored nine goals that season. He helped his team reach the finals of both the Spanish Cup and the UEFA Europa League. He came on as a substitute in the Europa League final, which Atlético won.

Jurado started the 2010–11 season by playing a few minutes in the UEFA Super Cup win against Inter Milan. On August 30, he scored the first goal in Atlético's 4–0 home win against Sporting de Gijón. The very next day, he moved to FC Schalke 04 in Germany.
