Josh James Brolin (born February 12, 1968) is a famous American actor. He is the son of actor James Brolin. Josh Brolin first became well-known when he was young for his role in the adventure movie The Goonies (1985).
Later, Brolin became very popular again with his main role in the crime film No Country for Old Men (2007). He was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Dan White in the movie Milk (2008). Brolin has also starred in many other big movies like True Grit (2010), Men in Black 3 (2012), and Everest (2015). He is widely recognized for playing the character Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, including Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). He also played Cable in Deadpool 2 (2018). More recently, Brolin has worked with director Denis Villeneuve in the science fiction movies Dune (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), where he played Gurney Halleck.

Josh Brolin was born on February 12, 1968, in Santa Monica, California. His father is the actor James Brolin. His mother, Jane Cameron (Agee), was a casting director and worked to protect wildlife.
Brolin grew up on a ranch near Paso Robles, California. He went to elementary and middle school in Templeton, California. When he was about 11 years old, he moved to the Santa Barbara area. There, he attended Santa Barbara High School. Josh Brolin did not spend much time around his father's acting career when he was young.
Acting Career
Early Roles and First Success
Brolin began his acting journey in TV movies and small guest roles on TV shows. His first big role was as Brandon Walsh in the movie The Goonies (1985), directed by Richard Donner. This adventure film helped him become known to audiences.
He was also considered for a role in the TV series 21 Jump Street. Brolin and Johnny Depp were the final choices for the part. They became good friends, and the role eventually went to Depp. Brolin did appear as a guest star in one episode of the show's first season.
Moving to Television and Film
After his early success, Brolin took on various roles. He appeared in the 1994 movie Roadflower. For some years, Brolin also performed in stage plays in Rochester, New York. He often worked with his mentor and friend, Anthony Zerbe.
One of Brolin's important early TV roles was playing Wild Bill Hickok in the ABC western TV series The Young Riders. This show ran for three seasons, from 1989 to 1992. He also appeared in other TV series like Winnetka Road (1994) and Mister Sterling (2003).

Josh Brolin was married to actress Alice Adair from 1988 to 1994. They have two children together, including Eden Brolin. He was also engaged to actress Minnie Driver for six months.
Brolin married actress Diane Lane on August 15, 2004. They later divorced in 2013. In March 2013, Brolin started dating Kathryn Boyd, who was his former assistant and a model. They got engaged in March 2015. The couple married on September 24, 2016. On May 29, 2018, they announced they were expecting their first child. Brolin shared on Instagram on November 4, 2018, that Boyd had given birth to a daughter. Their second daughter was born on December 25, 2020.
Business Interests
Brolin began stock trading in his mid-20s. He even thought about stopping acting to focus on it. In 2014, Brolin explained that he earned a lot of money from trading over three years. He also helped start a stock trading website called MarketProbability, which is no longer active.
