Jules-Claude Ziegler (1804-1856) was a talented French artist. He was a painter, a ceramicist (someone who works with clay and pottery), and even a photographer! He was part of the French art school.
Ziegler was born in 1804 in a town called Langres, in France. He started showing his art in big exhibitions called the Salon in 1832. He even became a knight of the Légion d'Honneur in 1825. This is a very important award in France. Ziegler learned from a famous artist named Dominique Ingres.
One of his most famous works is a large painting on the half-dome above the altar in the Église de la Madeleine in Paris. This is a beautiful church.
