Julie Chávez Rodriguez (born April 7, 1978) is an American political expert. She helps leaders with their campaigns and government work. She was the campaign manager for Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign. Before that, she worked on President Joe Biden's 2024 re-election campaign.
From 2008 to 2016, Julie Chávez Rodriguez worked for President Barack Obama. She served in the Interior Department and later in the White House. In 2016, she became a state director for Senator Kamala Harris. She then worked on Harris's 2020 presidential campaign. In 2020, Joe Biden hired her for his presidential campaign. She helped connect with Latino voters. In 2021, she became a director in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. This office helps the President work with state and local governments. In 2022, she became a senior advisor to President Biden. In 2023, she became his campaign manager.

Early Life and Family History
Julie Chávez Rodriguez was born in Delano, California. She grew up in Tehachapi. Her family was very involved in helping workers. They were part of the United Farm Workers of America (UFWA). Her parents, Linda Chávez Rodriguez and Arturo Rodriguez, volunteered full-time for the UFWA.
Julie's grandparents were also famous labor activists. Her grandmother was Helen Fabela Chávez. Her grandfather was the well-known labor leader, César Chávez. Julie often went to worker rallies with her family. She helped them with community activities for the UFWA.
Education and Early Career
Julie Chávez Rodriguez went to Tehachapi High School. She then studied at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2000, she earned a bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies.
During her summer breaks from college, she worked at the AFL–CIO. This is a large group of labor unions. She also volunteered with the UFWA. She helped organize strawberry pickers in Watsonville, California. From 2001 to 2008, Julie worked as a program director. This was at the Cesar Chavez Foundation.

Obama Administration Roles
Julie Chávez Rodriguez volunteered for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. She worked in Colorado. In 2009, she joined the Obama administration. She first worked as Director of Youth Employment. Later, she became Deputy Press Secretary for Ken Salazar. He was the Secretary of the Interior.
From 2011 to 2017, she worked in the White House Office of Public Engagement. She was a deputy director there. Later, she became a Special Assistant to the President. Her job was to connect the White House with different groups. These included Latino, LGBT, veteran, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Muslim, and youth communities.
Working with Kamala Harris
On December 11, 2016, Senator Kamala Harris chose Julie Chávez Rodriguez. She became Harris's state director in California. In 2017, Julie joined Harris's 2020 presidential campaign. She worked on the campaign until Harris stopped running in late 2019. Julie was a co-national political director. She also served as the campaign's traveling chief of staff.
