Kalraj Mishra (born on July 1, 1941) is an Indian politician. He served as the Governor of Rajasthan from 2019 to 2024. Before that, he was the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. He also worked as a cabinet minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Mishra is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lok Sabha from the Deoria area in Uttar Pradesh. This was from 2014 to 2019. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha and an MLA from Lucknow East. He even led the BJP in Uttar Pradesh for a time.

Early Life and Family
Kalraj Mishra was born on July 1, 1941. He was the fourth son in his family. His hometown is Malikpur in the Ghazipur District. His father, Ramagya Mishra, was a teacher.
Mr. Mishra studied and earned his M.A. degree. He got this degree from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi. He married Satyawati Mishra on May 7, 1963. They have two sons and one daughter.
Start in Politics
Kalraj Mishra began his journey in public service in 1955. He became a swayamsevak (volunteer) for the RSS. Later, in 1963, he became a full-time worker for the RSS.
In 1977, he became the vice-president of the Janata Yuva Morcha. This was the youth group of the Janata Party. He was elected as its president in 1979. He was also the first elected National President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.
Political Journey
Roles in Parliament and State Assembly
Mr. Mishra served as a member of the Rajya Sabha three times. These terms were in 1978, 2001, and 2006. He also held many important positions within his political party at both state and national levels.
He was a Cabinet Minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. From March 1997 to August 2000, he managed important areas. These included Public Works, Medical Education, and Tourism.
Key Initiatives and Achievements
As a minister, Kalraj Mishra started a project to make all state highways free of potholes. He also played a big part in creating the state of Uttarakhand. His hard work helped build a strong and capable political organization.
In 2012, Mr. Mishra ran for the Vidhan Sabha election for the first time. He won the seat for the BJP from Lucknow East. During this time, he started many projects to help develop the area.
National and Gubernatorial Roles
In 2014, Kalraj Mishra became a Member of Parliament (MP). He represented the Deoria area. After this, he was appointed a Cabinet Minister in the Modi government. He served as the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises from May 26, 2014, to September 2, 2017.
In July 2019, he was appointed the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. He took over from Acharya Devvrat. Then, in September 2019, he became the Governor of Rajasthan. He served in this role until July 2024.
