Early Life and Education
Kate Quilton grew up in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. She was the youngest of four children in her family. For her schooling, she attended Thurston Community College. Later, she went to the University of Bristol for her higher education.
Her Career in Television
While studying at the University of Bristol, Kate did a fun experiment. She ate only kebabs for a whole week to see what would happen. This interesting stunt was even featured in a national newspaper!
Starting in TV
Kate began working in television while she was still a student. She worked for big TV channels like ITV and the BBC. After university, she became a broadcast journalist for the BBC in Somerset. She spent a lot of time with farmers and reported mostly on topics related to food. At Bristol, she was also the editor of the student newspaper, Epigram.
Working at Channel 4
From 2010 to 2014, Kate was a commissioning editor at Channel 4. This meant she helped decide which new shows and digital content Channel 4 would create. She managed the online content for some of the channel's biggest programs. She also worked on factual shows like The Food Hospital and Foxes Live. In 2014, she won a BAFTA award for Digital Creativity. She also won a Digital Emmy award that same year.
In 2014, Kate left her job as a commissioning editor. She wanted to focus all her time on presenting Food Unwrapped.
