What's Kearneys Spring Like?
Kearneys Spring is about 3.6 kilometres (2.2 miles) south of Toowoomba's city centre. You can get there by following Ruthven Street.
The area is split into two parts, western and eastern. This division is made by the wetlands of West Creek. Most of the land in Kearneys Spring is used for houses. There's also a small area in the south that's farmland, where animals like cows graze on the natural plants.
A Look Back in Time
Kearneys Spring got its name from a family who used to have a dairy farm there. Long ago, there was an early system of wooden pipes that carried water from the springs in this area. This water helped supply the city of Toowoomba.
A school called Christian Outreach College opened here in 1982. Later, on January 21, 2019, the school changed its name to Highlands Christian College.

In 2016, about 8,552 people lived in Kearneys Spring. By 2021, the number of people living here grew to 9,419.
Schools and Learning
Highlands Christian College is a private school in Kearneys Spring. It teaches students from Prep (the first year of primary school) all the way up to Year 12. You can find it at 505 Hume Street. In 2017, the school had 473 students.
Kearneys Spring does not have any government schools right inside its borders. However, there are government primary schools nearby. These include Darling Heights State School, Harristown State School, and Middle Ridge State School. For high school, students can go to Harristown State High School or Centenary Heights State High School, which are also close by.
Places to Shop and Visit
Kearneys Spring has several shopping centres where people can buy things. On the east side, you'll find Toowoomba K-Mart Plaza and The Ridge Shopping Centre. The Ridge has a Woolworths and an ALDI supermarket. On the west side, there's Westridge and Uni Plaza. Uni Plaza is right across from the main campus of the University of Southern Queensland.
