Kelvin Joseph Jr. (born November 11, 1999) is an American professional football player. He plays as a cornerback, which is a defensive position in football. Joseph was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for both LSU and Kentucky.

Early Life and High School Football
Kelvin Joseph grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went to Scotlandville Magnet High School. During his junior year, he was a star player. He made 67 tackles and caught 3 interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns. He also broke up 12 passes. His team won the 5A state championship that year.
Joseph earned many awards, including All-District and Class 5A All-state honors. In his senior year, he continued to excel. He made 113 tackles and had three interceptions. He was again named Class 5A All-State. Joseph also played in the All-American Bowl. Throughout his high school career, he scored 13 touchdowns from punt, kickoff, and interception returns. He also played basketball and was teammates with Javonte Smart.
After high school, Joseph decided to play college football at LSU. He chose LSU over offers from other major football programs.
College Football Career
As a first-year student at LSU, Joseph played in 11 games. He made 12 tackles and broke up one pass. He had a strong game against the University of Mississippi, making 4 tackles. He later decided to transfer to another school.
In July 2019, Joseph announced he would transfer to the University of Kentucky. He had to sit out his sophomore year due to NCAA transfer rules. This means he couldn't play in games that season.
In his third year, as a redshirt sophomore, he became a starter for Kentucky. He started in 9 games. He was part of a strong defense that had five players chosen in the 2021 NFL draft. Joseph made 25 tackles and tied for second in the SEC with four interceptions. After this successful season, he decided to leave college early to prepare for the NFL draft.

Time with the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys picked Kelvin Joseph in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. He was the 44th player chosen overall. He signed a four-year contract with the Cowboys in June 2021.
Joseph faced some challenges early in his professional career. He missed some team practices after getting COVID-19. He also got a groin injury during a preseason game. Because of this, he was placed on injured reserve at the start of the 2021 season. He was able to play again in late October. For most of the season, he played on special teams, which are units used for kicking plays. He started the last two games of the season. Overall, he played in 10 games, making 13 tackles and breaking up 2 passes.
In 2022, Joseph was expected to compete for a starting spot. However, he mostly played on special teams again. He played more defensive snaps in some games when other players were injured. For example, he played a lot against the Green Bay Packers. In a game against the San Francisco 49ers, he forced a fumble on a punt return. He played in 16 games, making 13 defensive tackles and forcing one fumble. He was also third on the team in special teams tackles.
Moving to Other Teams
In August 2023, the Cowboys traded Joseph to the Miami Dolphins. He played in 4 games as a backup cornerback and made 2 tackles. He was released by the Dolphins in November 2023.
Later that month, the Seattle Seahawks signed Joseph to their practice squad. He was temporarily moved to the main team for one game against the Tennessee Titans, where he made one tackle. He was released from the Seahawks in January 2024.
In January 2024, Joseph signed a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs went on to win Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, which means Joseph earned a Super Bowl ring. He was later released by the Chiefs in August.
In September 2024, the Indianapolis Colts signed Joseph to their practice squad. He was released a couple of weeks later but then re-signed with the Colts in October. He was released again later that month. In December 2024, Joseph was signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. He was released later in December.
Personal Life
Kelvin Joseph has also released rap music. He uses the name "YKDV Bossman Fat" for his music. YKDV stands for "You Know Da Vibe."
