La Sarraz is a lovely town in Switzerland. It is found in the canton of Vaud, within the Morges area. This historic town is famous for its beautiful castle and its role in important architectural meetings.

La Sarraz was first mentioned way back in 1149. It was called Sarrata then. This town also became famous in 1928. That's when the Congrès International d'Architecture Moderne (CIAM) was started here. This was a very important group for modern architecture.

La Sarraz covers an area of about 7.71 square kilometers (about 3 square miles). A large part of the land, almost half, is used for farming. Forests cover about 39% of the area. The rest of the land has buildings, roads, or rivers.

The town sits by the Venoge river. It is also at the bottom of a hill called Mormont. Before 2006, La Sarraz was part of the Cossonay District. Now, it is part of the Morges district.
