Cachicoya Museum (formerly Vottero Museum)
The story of the Cachicoya Museum began in 1986 when a 5-year-old boy named Emanuel Vottero found a bird skull. This sparked his interest in collecting objects like stones, bones, and old items. His family saw how serious he was and started helping him collect historical pieces.
On November 19, 1995, the "Museo Polifacético Regional Vottero" (Vottero Regional Multifaceted Museum) officially opened. It had two floors and 10 different themed sections. As the collection grew, the museum moved to the old Railway Station and reopened in November 2004. Many schools and people visited, and admission was always free. Each item in the museum tells a story about the town's history and its people.
In 2014, the museum building was badly damaged by a broken water pipe. It had to close for repairs, and sadly, some items were stolen. But in 2019, a group of people decided to work together to reopen it. On November 30, 2019, the renovated Cachicoya Museum reopened as a main part of Laguna Larga's 150th anniversary celebration! The event included old cars, a literary gathering, craft stalls, and live music. The museum continues to host cultural events and workshops, with free entry for everyone.
