Lakeland is a small city located in Washington County, Minnesota, in the United States. It's known for its pretty views of the St. Croix River. In 2020, about 1,710 people lived here.

History of Lakeland

Lakeland was officially planned and marked out in 1849. This process is called "platting," which means creating a map of a town or land area with streets and property lines.

Some of the oldest buildings in Lakeland are very important. The Captain John Oliver House was built in 1849. The Mitchell Jackson Farmhouse dates back to 1850. Another historic home is the John T. Cyphers House, built in 1858. These buildings are so special that they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are recognized for their historical importance.
