Lakes of the Four Seasons is a special kind of community in Indiana, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially a city or village. It's located in two different counties: Lake and Porter. In 2020, about 7,091 people lived here.

Geography of Lakes of the Four Seasons

This community is unique because the line between Porter and Lake counties goes right through its middle. Even though everyone living here has a Crown Point mailing address, the school districts are different depending on which county you live in.

School Districts and County Lines

If you live on the Porter County side, you'll go to schools in the Porter Township school system. If you live on the Lake County side, you'll be part of the Crown Point school system. This shows how county lines can affect daily life!

Lakes and Waterways

The Lakes of the Four Seasons area covers about 7 square kilometers (2.7 square miles). A good portion of this area, about 1.1 square kilometers (0.42 square miles), is water. The community is named for its beautiful lakes.

The main lakes include:

  • Big Bass Lake
  • Lake on the Green

Lake Holiday is connected to Big Bass Lake. Water from Lake Holiday flows into Stony Run, which then leads to the Kankakee River. The Kankakee River is part of a larger river system that eventually joins the Illinois River. Lake on the Green doesn't have a surface outlet, meaning its water doesn't flow out to other rivers.
