The Lamborghini Gallardo is a super cool sportscar made by Lamborghini. It was built from 2003 until 2013. This car was Lamborghini's most popular model ever! The name "Gallardo" comes from a famous type of fighting bull. After many years, the Gallardo was replaced by the Lamborghini Huracán in 2014. Did you know some Gallardos were even used as police cars in places like Italy and England? The powerful V10 engine from the Gallardo was also used in the Audi R8 car.

What is the Lamborghini Gallardo?
The Lamborghini Gallardo is a high-performance sportscar. It was designed to be fast and exciting. It has two doors and can be a hard-top car (called a coupé) or a convertible (called a Spyder).
Why is it called Gallardo?
Lamborghini often names its cars after famous fighting bulls. The Gallardo is named after a special breed of Spanish fighting bull. This shows how powerful and strong the car is, just like the bulls.
How many were made?
The Gallardo was Lamborghini's best-selling car for a long time. Over 14,000 Gallardos were made during its production. This made it a very successful model for the company.
Engine and Power
The Gallardo uses a powerful V10 engine. This means it has 10 cylinders working together to make the car go super fast.
First Generation Engine
The first Gallardos had a 5.0-litre V10 engine. This engine was very strong and helped the car reach amazing speeds.
Second Generation Engine
Later models of the Gallardo got an even bigger engine. This was a 5.2-litre V10 engine. It made the car even more powerful and faster.
How it drives
Most Gallardos have "all-wheel-drive." This means power goes to all four wheels. This helps the car grip the road better, especially when going fast or turning. Some special versions had "rear-wheel-drive," sending power only to the back wheels.
Special Versions
Over the years, Lamborghini made many different versions of the Gallardo. These often had special features or designs.
Police Cars
Some Gallardos were given to the police in Italy and England. These cars were used for special tasks, like transporting organs for transplants or for parades. Imagine seeing a Lamborghini police car!
Superleggera and Performante
Lamborghini made lighter versions of the Gallardo called "Superleggera" (meaning "super light" in Italian) and "Performante." These cars used lighter materials to go even faster.
Valentino Balboni Edition
There was a special edition named after Valentino Balboni. He was a famous test driver for Lamborghini. This version was unique because it was rear-wheel-drive only.
