History of Lancaster

Lancaster became an official city in 1904. It was built along a Soo Line Railroad track. This railway connected Glenwood to the border with Canada. The city got its name from a railroad official. People think he might have been from Lancashire County in England.

Geography of Lancaster

Lancaster covers an area of about 2.30 square miles (6.0 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

The city is located along U.S. Highway 59. This highway meets Kittson County Roads 4, 5, and 6 in Lancaster. The North Branch Two Rivers flows nearby. The Canadian border is just nine miles north of the city.
