Lara Catherina Stone, born on December 20, 1983, is a famous model from the Netherlands. She was discovered when she was 12 years old in the Paris Metro. Later, at 15, she joined the Elite Model Look competition. Lara Stone has been on the covers of popular magazines like W and Vogue. She has also worked with many well-known fashion brands, including Fendi, Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Versace.

Early Life and Discovery

Lara Stone was born in Geldrop, a town in the Netherlands. She grew up in Mierlo, which is a small town nearby. Her mother, Kathryna, is Dutch, and her father, Michael Stone, is English.

When Lara was 12, she was on holiday with her family in Paris. While they were in the Paris Metro, someone noticed her and thought she could be a model. This was her first step into the modeling world.

Starting Her Modeling Journey

In 1999, when Lara was 15, she took part in the Elite Model Look competition. Even though she did not win, people from Elite Model Management were very impressed by her. They offered her a contract to join their modeling agency.

Lara Stone's Modeling Career

After working with Elite, Lara Stone signed with IMG Models in 2006. This was a big step in her career.

Becoming a Top Model: 2006–2008

In January 2006, Lara made her first appearance on a fashion runway. She walked in Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy couture show during Paris Fashion Week. Later that year, she signed a special contract with Calvin Klein.

In March 2007, Lara was featured in an article in Vogue Paris. She also appeared on the magazine's April cover. New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn called Lara Stone the "anti-model" because her look was different from other models at the time. She was also listed as one of the "Top Ten Models to Watch" by New York Magazine for New York Fashion Week.

Lara walked in fashion shows for many designers. These included Giles Deacon, Isabel Marant, Christopher Kane, Fendi, and MaxMara. She also closed shows for famous brands like Chanel, Diesel, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Balmain. In 2008, she signed a special agreement with Prada.

Her campaigns for spring/summer 2008 included Givenchy, Belstaff, Just Cavalli, and H&M. For autumn/winter 2008, she worked on campaigns for Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Belstaff, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein Cosmetics, and Jil Sander. Lara was also one of the models featured on the covers of V magazine's September 2008 issue.

Continued Success: 2009–Present

In February 2009, Lara Stone was on the cover of Vogue Paris. In August 2009, she was featured on the cover of W magazine, which called her "Fashion's It Girl". Vogue Paris also named her one of the top 30 models of the 2000s.

Lara made her first appearance on the American Vogue cover in May 2009. She was featured with other top models like Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, and Jourdan Dunn. This issue was special because it featured models instead of celebrities.

In 2010, Lara became the new face for Prada's perfume, Infusion d'Iris. She also worked on campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Versus by Versace Fragrance, Jaeger, and H&M. Around this time, her unique look, with blonde hair, a gap between her teeth, and full lips, became very popular. This look inspired other models like Georgia May Jagger and Lindsey Wixson.

Lara Stone signed an exclusive deal with Calvin Klein Inc. in 2010. This made her the face of three of their brands: Calvin Klein Collection, CK Calvin Klein, and Calvin Klein Jeans. This was the first time in many years that Calvin Klein had used one model for three of its brands. At the end of 2010, she won the Model of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards.

Lara was also featured in the Pirelli Calendar in 2010 and 2011. In May 2011, she was on one of the three covers of Vogue UK to celebrate the Wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton. She also appeared on Forbes' "World's Top-Earning Models" list, ranking No. 7 with estimated earnings of $4.5 million between 2010 and 2011.

In 2012, Lara was again featured in the Pirelli Calendar. She was also the face of Calvin Klein's 2012 Underwear campaign. From Spring 2010 to Summer 2012, Lara Stone was ranked #1 on models.com's "Top 50 Models" list. She later moved to their "Industry Icons" list.

In March 2014, Lara appeared on the cover of Vogue Paris again. In April, she was on the cover of American Harper's Bazaar. In March 2015, she was on one of three Vogue Paris covers with Kate Moss and Daria Werbowy. She also appeared on the August cover of British Vogue.
