Lausen is a town in Switzerland. It's located in the Liestal district, which is part of the canton of Basel-Country. Lausen is a charming place with a rich history and beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Lausen
Lausen was first mentioned in official records way back in 1275. Back then, it was known as Langenso. In 1305, the town became owned by the Bishop of Basel. Later, in 1400, it became part of the city of Basel.
Geography of Lausen
Lausen covers an area of about 5.56 square kilometers (2.15 sq mi). A large part of this land is covered by forests, making up about 50.5% of the area. About 23.6% of Lausen's land is used for farming. This includes fields for crops and pastures for animals. Around 25% of the town's area is settled, meaning it has buildings, roads, and other developed areas. Lausen is located in the Ergolz valley, which is southeast of the town of Liestal.
Lausen's Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Lausen is quite interesting. It shows two golden pick-axes crossed over each other on a red background. Above the pick-axes, there are three gold circles on a black stripe. This design is called Gules, two pick-axes Or in saltire, in Chief Sable three Bezants one and two.
