List of NFL Most Valuable Player awards facts for kids

In American football, a Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is given to the player who is considered the best during the regular season. Different groups give out these awards in the National Football League (NFL). The main awards today come from the Associated Press (AP) and the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA). Since 2011, the NFL has a special event called NFL Honors. At this event, they announce the winner of the Associated Press MVP award.
Before the current awards, other organizations also gave out MVP trophies. These included the Joe F. Carr Trophy from the NFL itself, which was given from 1938 to 1946. Other groups like The Sporting News, United Press International (UPI), and the Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) with their Jim Thorpe Trophy also recognized top players.
