Story of Power Rangers S.P.D.
The story of Power Rangers S.P.D. takes place in the year 2025. By this time, aliens live peacefully on Earth with humans. But this peace doesn't last long. The evil Troobian Empire, led by Emperor Gruumm, decides to attack Earth.
Earth's main defense team, the Space Patrol Delta A-Squad, mysteriously disappears. So, the job of protecting the planet falls to their replacements: the B-Squad Rangers. This team includes Schuyler "Sky" Tate, Bridge Carson, and Sydney "Syd" Drew. Their dog-like alien commander, Anubis "Doggie" Cruger, guides them.
Two former thieves, Jack Landors and Elizabeth "Z" Delgado, join the team as the Red and Yellow S.P.D. Rangers. At first, they have trouble working together. But with the alien threat growing, the Rangers must learn to set aside their differences and fight as one team.
Discovering the Shadow Ranger
While fighting Gruumm's forces, the B-Squad learns a secret about Commander Cruger. He used to be a Ranger himself! Cruger had stopped being a Ranger after failing to protect his home planet and thinking his wife, Isinia, had died.
However, old enemies attack, and the team discovers Isinia is alive and held by Gruumm. This forces Cruger to become the Shadow Ranger again. Later, a future version of a kid they saved, Sam, joins them as the Omega Ranger. He travels back in time to prevent the B-Squad's destruction.
The A-Squad's Return and Final Battle
Things get intense when the A-Squad returns. They reveal they didn't disappear; they actually joined Gruumm! They believed fighting him was a losing battle. Both Cruger and the B-Squad are captured, but they quickly escape.
The B-Squad fights their former teammates and stops the Troobian invasion. Cruger battles Gruumm and rescues Isinia. Gruumm survives, leading to a final showdown with Cruger, who finally arrests him. After this, Jack decides to leave the team. Cruger then promotes Sky to be the new Red Ranger.

Video Game
A video game based on Power Rangers S.P.D. was made for the Game Boy Advance. It was a side-scrolling game where the Rangers fight enemies and bosses. The game also had racing levels with the Delta Runners and Megazord battles. There was even a special level with R.I.C., the Rangers' robot dog.
Comics
A new comic strip for Power Rangers S.P.D. appeared in the Jetix Magazine in the UK in 2005. This was the first Power Rangers comic written by Simon Furman. The artwork was done by Andrew Wildman.
The comic had a side story about a Krybot robot who became self-aware and turned against Gruumm. This rogue Krybot later helped S.P.D. in the final battle. The comic strip ended with its own version of the S.P.D. finale. In the comic, the A-Squad was brainwashed instead of willingly joining Gruumm. The B-Squad defeated them and helped Cruger beat Gruumm and Omni. After this, the B-Squad members were promoted to A-Squad status.
In 2018, the S.P.D. Rangers appeared in the "Shattered Grid" comic event by Boom! Studios. This was a big crossover celebrating 25 years of Power Rangers. A special Power Rangers S.P.D. story was also published as part of this event.
