Little Bromley is a small village and civil parish located in the Tendring area of Essex, England. The name "Bromley" comes from an old English word meaning "broomy wood" or "clearing." This suggests the area once had many broom plants.
The village is about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) east-northeast of Colchester. It is also about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) south of Manningtree. Little Bromley is surrounded by other parishes like Lawford, Ardleigh, Great Bromley, Little Bentley, and Mistley. Its total area is around 7.5 square kilometers (1,853 acres).
Over the years, the number of people living in Little Bromley has changed. In 1841, there were 426 residents. By 1911, this number dropped to 361. In 2001, the population was 289, and in 2011, it was 253. Most people in the village work in arable farming, which means growing crops like grains. The village used to have a shop, mentioned in a 1914 directory, but it closed in the 1990s.
