Little Marais is a small, quiet place in Minnesota, United States. It's not a city or a town, but an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. It is located in Lake County, right on the beautiful North Shore of Lake Superior.
This community is found northeast of Silver Bay. You can reach it where Minnesota Highway 61 meets Lake County Road 6. The community was once known as Philips Trading Post.
Little Marais is about 39 miles northeast of Two Harbors. It is also 44 miles southwest of Grand Marais. The Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center is close by. This center is a great place to learn about nature. The border between Cook County and Lake County is also nearby.
Little Marais is part of a larger area called Lake No. 1 Unorganized Territory. This territory is also in Lake County.
