Little Waltham is a village and civil parish in Essex, England. It is located just north of the city of Chelmsford. Little Waltham is very close to another village called Great Waltham.
Long ago, in the Domesday Book (a famous survey from 1086), both villages were simply called Waltham. They were made up of several large estates known as manors. Before the main road north was improved, archaeologists found and studied the site of an Iron Age village here. This shows people lived in the area a very long time ago.
The village is built along the River Chelmer. Its main street has many old houses near the bridge. One special building is a rare example of a Wealden hall house from the past. This type of house is now split into three smaller homes. A walking path follows the river south to a beautiful natural area. This area is partly a nature reserve, which means it is protected.

In the spring of 1930, a greyhound racing track opened in Little Waltham. It was on the main road between Braintree and Chelmsford. Greyhound racing involves dogs running on a track. This track was independent, meaning it was not part of the main national racing group. It was sometimes called a "flapping track." Races happened on Friday evenings over a distance of 550 yards. The track had a covered stand and offered refreshments. The four-acre site was put up for sale in February 1931. After this, the Waltham Greyhound and Whippet Club organized the races. In March 1936, equipment from another track was brought here.
