Lorenzo D'Ontez Brown Banks (born August 26, 1990) is an American-Spanish professional basketball player. He currently plays for Panathinaikos in Greece and also in the EuroLeague. Lorenzo played college basketball for the NC State Wolfpack. He also spent several seasons playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States. In 2022, he helped the Spanish national team win the EuroBasket championship.

High School Career
Lorenzo Brown first went to Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia. In his final year, he scored an average of 20.8 points per game. He was recognized as a fourth-team Parade All-American. He was also named the Georgia 5A player of the Year. When he finished high school in 2009, he was ranked as the 36th best player in the country. He was also the 7th best shooting guard by Rivals.com. After graduating, he attended the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia.
College Career
Brown, who is a 6-foot-5-inch guard, played for NC State from 2010 to 2013. He was a starter in all three seasons he played. He helped his team reach the NCAA tournament two years in a row, in 2012 and 2013.
As a junior, Brown averaged 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He also led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in assists, with 7.2 per game. Because of his great performance, he was named to the second team All-ACC. During his time in college, Brown averaged 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. After the 2012–13 season, Brown decided to leave college early to enter the 2013 NBA draft.
Professional Career
Starting in the NBA
Lorenzo Brown was picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA draft. He was the 52nd player chosen overall. He signed his first professional contract with the Timberwolves. However, he was later waived by the team. He then joined the Philadelphia 76ers and also played for their minor league team, the Delaware 87ers.
Brown also played for the Grand Rapids Drive in the NBA Development League (now called the G League). He was named to the Futures All-Star team in 2015. He had short periods with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns. He was also part of the Detroit Pistons team.
Playing in China and Russia
In 2016, Brown signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China. He played well there, averaging 24.0 points per game. After his time in China, he returned to the Grand Rapids Drive.
In 2017, Brown signed a special "two-way contract" with the Toronto Raptors. This meant he could play for both the Raptors and their G League team, the Raptors 905. He became the first player with NBA experience to sign such a contract. He had a fantastic season with the Raptors 905 and was named the NBA G League MVP in 2018.
After leaving the Raptors in 2019, Brown went back to China to play for the Guangzhou Loong Lions.
Success in Europe
In 2019, Lorenzo Brown moved to Europe and signed with KK Crvena zvezda in Serbia. He then played for Fenerbahçe Beko in Turkey. In 2021, he joined UNICS Kazan in Russia. He left the team for a short time in 2022 but returned to finish the season.
In 2022, Brown signed a two-year deal with the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv. He performed very well, averaging 16.4 points per game in the EuroLeague during the 2022–23 season. He also helped Maccabi Tel Aviv win the Israeli Basketball Premier League championship twice, in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, he was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team, which means he was one of the best players in the league.
In June 2024, Brown agreed to a three-year contract with Panathinaikos, who are the current EuroLeague champions.
National Team Career
In July 2022, Lorenzo Brown became a Spanish citizen. This allowed him to play for the Spanish national team. He said that being coached by Sergio Scariolo, who he knew from the Toronto Raptors, was a big reason he chose to play for Spain.
He played for Spain at EuroBasket 2022. He helped his team win the gold medal by beating France in the final game. After the tournament, he was named to the All-Tournament Team, recognizing him as one of the best players in the competition.
