History

Lucerne was platted in 1887. The community most likely took its name from Lucerne, Ohio. A post office called Lucerne has been in operation since 1887.

There were 51 housing units at an average density of 204.0 per square mile (78.8/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.8% White and 1.2% Asian.
