History of Lucerne
Lucerne was officially planned and laid out in 1887. This means people decided where streets and buildings would go. The village probably got its name from another place called Lucerne, Ohio. A post office, which helps send and receive mail, has been open in Lucerne since 1887.
Geography of Lucerne
Lucerne is found on US Route 136, a main road. It's about 15 miles west of Unionville. To the north, about six miles away, is Powersville. Six miles south is Newtown. A stream called Medicine Creek flows nearby to the east. A railway line, once part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, also runs along the east side of the village.
