Lugnez was once a small town, or "municipality," located in the Jura canton of Switzerland. It was part of the Porrentruy district.

History of Lugnez

Lugnez has a long history! It was first written about between the years 501 and 600. Back then, it was called Lugduniaco. Later, in 1225, its name was recorded as Lunigie.

What happened to Lugnez? On January 1, 2023, Lugnez joined with another town called Damphreux. They became one new municipality named Damphreux-Lugnez.

Geography of Lugnez

Lugnez covers an area of about 5.13 square kilometers (about 2 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 60%, is used for farming. About 34.5% of the area is covered by forests.
