Lund Municipality (called Lunds kommun in Swedish) is a special kind of local government area in southern Sweden. It's located in Scania County. The main town, or "seat," of this municipality is the historic city of Lund.
Long ago, Lund Municipality was made up of many smaller local areas. Over time, these areas joined together. This happened in several steps, especially in 1952 and 1974. Today, the municipality is divided into 16 smaller areas for keeping track of people and land.
Inside the municipality, you can find Dalby Söderskog, which is one of Sweden's national parks. It's a beautiful place to explore nature! The official bird of Lund Municipality is the Eurasian penduline tit, a small, clever bird known for its amazing nest-building skills.

About the People of Lund
The municipality is home to many people. In the 2022 Swedish general election, there were over 127,000 residents. About 93,500 of these were Swedish citizens old enough to vote.
When people voted, about 57% chose parties from the "left coalition," and 41% chose parties from the "right coalition." This was different from the rest of the Skåne Southern area, where the right coalition won by a lot.
How Lund Municipality is Governed
The municipality is run by a group called the Municipal Council. After the 2018 Swedish local elections, no single group of parties won enough votes to be completely in charge. So, a special group of five parties joined together to lead. This group included four parties from the "Alliance" and a local party called FörNyaLund.
The leader of this group, who helps run the municipality, is Philip Sandberg from the Liberals party. In the 2018 election, a very high number of people voted, with 86.37% of eligible voters participating.
