Luohe (pronounced Lwo-huh) is a city in the middle of Henan province, China. It's a big city, also called a "prefecture-level city." Luohe is surrounded by other cities like Xuchang, Zhoukou, Zhumadian, and Pingdingshan. In 2020, about 2.3 million people lived in Luohe. More than 1.3 million of them lived in the main city area, which includes the districts of Yancheng, Shaoling, and Yuanhui.

Geography and Climate
Luohe is located in the central and southern parts of Henan Province. It sits between the Funiu Mountains and the Huaibei Plains. The city has many rivers, 81 of them, and they all flow into the Huai River system.

Luohe's economy has been growing steadily, just like the rest of China. The city is also known for Nanjie Village. This village is famous for its unique "collective-ownership" style, where the community owns and manages many businesses together.

Farmers in Luohe grow many different crops. These include wheat, corn, cotton, and peanuts. They also grow vegetables, mushrooms, melons, and fruits. Luohe is especially famous for making ham. A very large pork company called WH Group has its main Chinese office here. They also own Smithfield Foods, a big name in pork around the world.

Luohe gets many natural resources from its rivers. The rivers have a lot of rock salt, which is pure enough to be used in food. The rivers also provide a special type of sand. This sand is perfect for making building materials.

Luohe has been a trading hub for a long time. Today, it has many "light industries." These include making food, textiles (like fabric), plastics, and shoes. There are also "heavy industries" like cement production.

The service industry, which includes things like shops, restaurants, and other businesses that provide services, has grown quickly in Luohe. In 2018, this part of the economy made up about 31.1% of the city's total economic output.

Luohe has many schools for students of all ages. In 2018, about 9,200 students were in secondary vocational schools, learning skills for specific jobs. Regular high schools had about 47,400 students. Junior high schools had 98,900 students, and primary schools had 205,700 students. There were also 98,100 young children in kindergartens.

- Xu Shen (許慎): He was a famous scholar who lived during the Han Dynasty. He created the very first Chinese character dictionary, called Shuowen Jiezi.
