Winning Miss Venezuela
On September 14, 2006, Ly Jonaitis took part in the Miss Venezuela 2006 contest. This big event was held in Caracas. She competed against 27 other young women. Ly won the title of Miss Venezuela 2006. She was the eighth person from Guárico state to win this title. The Miss Venezuela pageant first started in 1952.
Competing in Miss Universe
After winning Miss Venezuela, Ly traveled to Mexico. She represented Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2007 pageant. This international competition took place in Mexico City on May 28, 2007. Ly did very well in the pageant. She finished as the 2nd Runner-Up. The winner was Japan's Riyo Mori. Brazil's Natália Guimarães was the 1st Runner-Up.
